Do you use inventory variants? Do you want the variant product code or the variant SKU to pass with your order so it appears in the admin and syncs with your third party system (Quickbooks,StoneEdge, etc)?
If so this is the module you need. When a product is added to the cart it will replace the product code with that of the variant chosen. You have the option to replace it with the variant product code or the variant sku. If a product does not have variants, then nothing is changed.
Its important to note that this module only works on products added to the cart from the shopping interface. It has no impact on orders created from the admin. Also, it currently does not work on upsell products.
Since the product code gets replaced in the basket database table, this will cause links on the BASK page back to the product to be incorrect since &mvt:item:code; will reference the variant sku/code which is a non-active product. To fix this, the module provides a new variable to use:
&mvt:item:master_code;
This master_code variable will contain the parent product code of the variant and should be used on BASK/Mini Basket to correctly link back to the parent product.
